Managed care

What is managed care?

Managed care links health insurance with an organized care delivery system for a defined population. The goal is to provide the highest quality of care to the community, efficiently and affordably.

Why is it important to include Health First in my company's health plan?

As the Space Coast's healthcare leader, Health First is affiliated with more than 19 physician offices, clinics, diagnostic, surgery, and fitness centers; Hospice and home care; and other healthcare services, most of which are conveniently located throughout the community. And our affiliations with the University of Florida for heart care and trauma care, plus our cancer care programs at Holmes Regional Medical Center and Cape Canaveral Hospital that are accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer are just some of the examples of the high standards we've set—and our customers expect—for our organization.

Health First has contracts with many companies and managed care organizations to provide services to their employees and families—more than 120,000 covered lives. We provide services for employers such as Harris Corporation, Deseret Ranches, and Carnival Cruise Line, and managed care organizations such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, Cigna, and ChoiceCare. Health First also has its own Workers' Compensation Managed Care Arrangement (WCMCA), called Health First Corporate Partners.

Health First's mission is to improve the health of our community. Our organization will continue to grow and provide the highest quality medical care using the latest technology to meet the needs of Brevard's growing community. When choosing a health plan, make sure it includes Health First.
