Joining Health First in October 2012, Ed serves in the dual roles of systemwide CNO for Health First and as vice president of patient care services at Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center. As Health First's chief nursing officer, he is responsible for the planning, organization, and delivery of effective, efficient, and high-quality patient care across our system. Ed also works with Health First executives, physicians, and clinical leadership in setting the vision and direction for patient care services, as well as developing and implementing an enhanced philosophy and health and wellness model. He will also work with management, medical staff, and clinical management in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement initiatives and ensuring successful strategic priorities, including clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.
Ed previously served at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, a 400-bed, not-for-profit acute care hospital serving the Southeastern Florida region where he began as a member of a senior management team contracted by the hospital's board of directors to improve clinical and operational results. In 2010 he moved into the role of vice president - patient care services and quality/chief nursing officer overseeing acute care nursing, pharmacy services, respiratory care, inpatient rehabilitative services, infection control, nursing informatics, dialysis, patient and guest relations, food and nutritional services, environmental services, as well as performance improvement and excellence (quality resource management). He has worked closely with several area nursing colleges on collaborative projects as well as serving as a member of the adjunct faculty for Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Nova Southeastern University.
A registered nurse (RN) in both FL and TN, Ed also earned Certification in Nursing Administration Advanced (CNAA) as well as Team Specialist Certification from North Carolina State University. He has also completed a specialized program in Strategies for Successful Nursing Management at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
