William Potter

Potter serves as chairman of Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center and Health First Palm Bay Hospital Board of Directors. Potter is a former partner with Holland & Knight, LLP and former president of Potter, McClelland, Marks & Healy, PA.

He is a retired colonel with the Florida Air National Guard, and a recipient of numerous medals, including; Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, NATO Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Defense Meritorious Medal and the Legion of Merit.

He served as an International Election Supervisor in Bosnia Herzegovina and in Kosovo. In 1999, he served as and as military advisor to the Office of High Representative and Government of Bosnia-Herzegovina. From 2002 until 2005, he served as Head of the Rule of Law Department in the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He is the author of a book about his experiences in Bosnia-Herzegovina entitled "A Bosnian Diary."

He is the former city attorney for Melbourne, Indialantic and Melbourne Village, as well as for the Brevard Transportation Authority. He served as chair and as a director of the Astronauts Memorial Foundation. Potter is a current member and former chairman of the Florida Institute of Technology Board of Trustees and is former chairman of the Brevard Economic Council. Potter was the former director and president of the Melbourne YMCA, former board member for Junior Achievement and served as pro bono general counsel and former board member for the United Way of Brevard. He also served as former Brevard County unit president and member of the Florida board of directors for the American Cancer Society.

He is a long-time member and former chairman of the Melbourne/Palm Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and recipient of the Outstanding Community Service Award in 1971 and 1991. He also served as a director of a defense electronics firm, a medical equipment manufacturer and several bank boards.

Potter is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Michigan School of Law.
