If you’re not already familiar with the Health First family, our hospitals, physicians, and health plans have proudly served Florida's Space Coast for many years. Our roots run deep in Brevard, beginning in 1937 when Brevard Hospital—today known as Holmes Regional Medical Center (HRMC)—first opened in Melbourne. In 1962, Cape Canaveral Hospital (CCH) opened during the onset of the space program. Then, in 1992 HRMC opened a satellite facility, Palm Bay Hospital (PBH).

Health First was formed in August 1995 when CCH, HRMC, and PBH joined together to create a truly integrated not-for-profit healthcare delivery system and fulfill a common mission of improving the health of our community. The first new services added in the Health First family were Health First Physicians, which opened in late 1995, and in 1996 Health First Health Plans was licensed as a health maintenance organization (HMO) to offer HMO and point of service (POS) health benefit plans. Since then, we’ve also added Holmes Regional Trauma Center, VitalWatch—Central Florida's only electronic Intensive Care Unit, Viera Hospital, and many other services. Our headquarters are in Rockledge, near the historic Kennedy Space Center.

Today, Health First is proud to introduce Health First Insurance, Inc., the newest member of the family. While Health First Health Plans is licensed to provide HMO and POS health plans, Health First Insurance was created in late 2011 to offer insurance products such as Medicare Supplement policies.

Although the Health First Insurance company may be brand new, our team of executives and staff is highly experienced, with a proven track record of providing the highest levels of quality, value, and service. We’re committed to providing Health First Insurance policy holders with the same friendly service that has made Health First Health Plans the success it is today.
