Curriculum
The Health First Center for Child Development’s curriculum is based on the philosophy of early childhood education. Qualified and experienced educators provide superior quality early childhood education for holistic development through play and teacher-directed, child-selected activities.
The Health First Center for Child Development currently uses a combination of Creative Curriculum and Beyond Centers & Circle Time as guides for our Early Childhood Development program that includes: choice of time, small & large group time, and studies that integrate learning across all areas. Beyond Cribs and Rattles for infants and toddlers focuses on the mission of the Health First Center for Child Development to provide individualized quality instruction.
All curriculum programs are based on NAEYC principles.
Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Program
The Health First Center for Child Development’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Program is one of a handful of Nationally-Accredited VPK programs in Brevard County. While there are a lot of options out there for VPK — our Center’s VPK Program stands above the rest. We offer:
-
A large separate building dedicated to just VPK classes.
-
Small classroom settings and separate classrooms designated specifically for language, math, dramatic play, arts & crafts, computer work, and more.
-
A faculty of dedicated teachers with Early Childhood Degrees.
-
Extended, flexible hours for before and aftercare.
-
Lunch and dinner are also available and are catered by Health First’s Nutritional Services Department. Lunch is included as part of the VPK program. Dinner is available for an additional cost.
-
Year-round educational field trips.
VPK registration begins as early as May each year and continues through the opening of the school year in August/September.
Summer Camp
The Health First Center for Child Development offers an exciting Summer Camp program for children 5 to 12 years old.
The 12-weeks of Summer Camp begin in late May through early August and include a variety of educational, fun, and memorable activities for all. In past years, Summer Camp has included:
-
Field trips to Gatorland, Orlando Science Center, and Pirate Lunch Show
-
Arts & Crafts on specified days
-
Waterplay days
-
…and more
All transportation for field trips is provided by Health First, and parents are encouraged to join us!
Our Center provides lunch and two snacks each day of Summer Camp — unless a field trip is scheduled. Dinner can be provided at a minimal additional cost. Before and aftercare are also available.
