Our inpatient Phase I program
If you or a family member is receiving inpatient cardiac care, your clinical history may include:
- Angina
- Myocardial infarction (heart attack)
- Coronary artery bypass surgery
- Heart valve repair and/or replacement
- Coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and/or stent
- Congestive heart failure
- Pre-/post-heart transplant
- Congenital defect repair

Our inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation is coordinated by the advanced nurse practitioners in the Acute Cardiac Management program, and provides you and your family with guidelines for managing your care after discharge, including activities of daily living, diet modification, psychosocial concerns, medications, and risk factor reduction.
Taking the next step...
Upon the recommendations of your physician, you may be encouraged as part of your recovery to transition join the Phase III cardiac rehab program at one of our Pro-Health & Fitness Centers and take personal charge of your continuing cardiac rehabilitation. Our Pro-Health & Fitness staff provides a comprehensive orientation program that will introduce you to the center's state-of-the-art exercise equipment designed to meet your continuing fitness goals.

Building your support network: Breaking old habits and learning new ones can be stressful, but family members and friends can make a dramatic difference in your recovery process. They can give you the emotional support you need to help you adjust to a new, healthier lifestyle. The cardiac rehab program at Holmes Regional Medical Center encourages family involvement and invites interested family members to participate in the patient's education sessions.
You and your family may also benefit from the support of others who have heart disease. Our Cardiac Rehabilitation staff can provide information about local support groups that may be of help. Web links to many of these resources are available on this page.
