In conjunction with National Nurses Week events
Cape Canaveral Hospital will host its 17th Annual Jump Ropes to Stethoscopes program to encourage children interested in future Nursing careers. The day-long program will take place Wednesday, May 7, at the hospitals Medical Plaza adjacent to the hospital.
Twelve students from the sixth grade class of Cape View Elementary School in Cape Canaveral were selected to attend this year's event. The students will shadow nurses throughout the day and attend a Nursing Skills Laboratory to give them a basic introduction to Nursing procedures.
"The Skills Laboratory will teach students how to safely transport patients, take blood pressure readings, give injections, use stethoscopes, and care for infants, all in hopes of sparking their interests of entering the medical field in the future," said Jan McCoy, MSN, RN, CNAA, VP Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer for Cape Canaveral Hospital.
Cape Canaveral Hospital is a member of the Health First family of healthcare services in Brevard County that also includes Holmes Regional Medical Center and Palm Bay Community Hospital.
