Brevard Manatees to sponsor Rib Fest 2007 to benefit cancer care at Cape Canaveral Hospital

The Brevard County Manatees announced that they will sponsor Rib Fest 2007 on Friday, August 31, prior to their baseball game against the Palm Beach Cardinals at Space Coast Stadium. Admission to the event is $7 per person, of which half of the proceeds will benefit the Health First Foundation for cancer care at Cape Canaveral Hospital.
From 5 to 6:45 pm, local restaurants will compete for the title of "Best Ribs in Brevard" by showcasing their ribs for ball park patrons to sample. Park guests will vote for their winning restaurant with the "Best Ribs in Brevard" prior to the 7 pm game. The ballots will be tallied by 6:30 and the winner will be announced at 6:45 pm before the first pitch.
Participating restaurants will pay an entry fee of $150, which will be donated to the Health First Foundation to support cancer care at Cape Canaveral Hospital.
"We are appreciative that the Manatees want to donate to the cancer care program at our hospital," said Jacque Darby, Health First Foundation Coordinator at Cape Canaveral Hospital.
"Rib Fest provides a fun night at the ball park, complete with good food, family activities, a worthy cause, and sports competition. We encourage people to attend and assist the Foundation’s efforts."
Other activities include rides for children, prize drawings, and live music. The Grand Prix teams from Cape Canaveral Hospital will have their go-carts on display.
