Individual employees collect and donate more than $17,000 for Japan earthquake/tsunami relief efforts
ROCKLEDGE, FL - For the second time in just over a year, Health First associates, showing overwhelming compassion and generosity, pooled together resources to help those suffering from a natural disaster. They have raised a total of $17,482.81 across the organization to help those who continue to suffer from the devastating earthquake and tsunami that ravaged Japan earlier this year.
The money is being donated to the Mid-Florida Region of the American Red Cross in Brevard to ensure it reaches those who need it most in the Japanese relief and re-building efforts.
In response to employees who wanted to do something for the Japanese victims, Health First put a program in place so associates could donate a portion of their compensation to a Japanese relief fund. Donations were collected from individual associates contributing the cash value of personal leave time to assist victims in Japan.
The American Red Cross was chosen as the recipient of the donations because of that organization's ability to effectively provide the assistance most desperately needed anywhere in the world.
