Palm Bay Community Hospital has been selected as this year's charitable organization to receive a portion of the proceeds from the third annual Palm Bay Mayors' Benefit Ball.
The Mayors' Ball will be held Saturday, October 20, at the Quality Inn Hotel and Convention Center in Palm Bay. The event recognizes and honors community leadership in Brevard's largest and fasting-growing city. Each year a local charitable organization is selected to receive proceeds from the event. This year's recipient is the not-for-profit Palm Bay Community Hospital.
Palm Bay Community Hospital's President Gail Schuneman said all proceeds from this year's ball will be directed to the hospital's 92-bed expansion that is currently underway. "Health care is vital to a growing city, and the hospital is increasing in size to care for community residents and families," she said. "We feel honored and delighted to be part of the Mayors' Ball and want to thank Mayor Mazziotti for this opportunity."
The hospital expansion will include 80 new, all-private inpatient beds, an expanded Emergency Department, additional 12-bed Intensive Care Unit, and expanded Gastrointestinal Lab capacity. At the completion of the 24-month construction project, Palm Bay Community Hospital, a part of the Health First system, will more than double its current size to 152 beds.
The Mayors' all will feature live entertainment and dancing, as well as a silent auction. Sponsorships and reserved tables are available by calling the City of Palm Bay Parks and Recreation Department at (321) 952-3441.
