Jose Mejia, MD
Jose Mejia, MD, is Board-certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. In addition to his General Surgery expertise, he also has experience in the areas of endoscopy and laparoscopy. He is a graduate of University of Puerto Rico in San Juan Puerto Rico, where he earned a Bachelors‚?? degree with honors in Biology. He completed Medical School at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, PR. Dr. Mejia completed a one year Internship at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA in the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He then attended Allegheny University Hospitals in Philadelphia, PA where he completed a Residency in General Surgery, and a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care in 1999.
After finishing his training, he joined a very successful General and Vascular surgery practice in Altoona, PA. After almost two years, he decided to move to Florida looking for better weather and to be closer to his family and his wife's family in Puerto Rico. After practicing in other cities, he finally settled down in Brevard after joining Health First Medical Group in 2005. Dr. Mejia is married and has two children.
Dr. Mejia has held certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support. He is eligible for certification in Surgical Critical Care.
Dr. Mejia speaks English and Spanish and is accepting new patients at his office.
